Kate Von D - "Saint" Eyeshadow Palette

Tuesday, October 16, 2012

A couple months ago, I talked about how I was looking for some neutral eyeshadows because I you can't go wrong with a natural look (and I look weird with color on my eyelids). I bought this Kate Von D Eyeshadow Palette in "Saint" before going to Taiwan. and I'm so glad I did! The colors are very pigmented and blends easily, so I only need a gentle swipe of a color or two for a light day-look. Unlike other neutral palettes, this one only has two dark shades, which is great because I don't put on any dark eyeshadows unless I'm going out for the night (which is rare), but it's there for when I do need it :) Best of all, I don't need to use any eyelid primer! Of course it's always better to use a primer, but these shadows barely budge even after a long day! great for people with oily/combination skin like me or sweats buckets in the summer (aka in Taiwan >.< ).

I love the edgy packaging design too!! I've never seen an makeup palette being placed in its package like an envelope. Took me 5 min to figure out how to open it without tearing the it apart -.- I still keep my palette in the package because it looks pretty :) But then again, I rarely buy makeup at all, so maybe other companies do that with their makeup palettes too... The outer casing is slim and made of metal - great for traveling or throwing around in a bag.

Despite the rave reviews about the Urban Decay Naked Palette and Naked 2, I decided to buy this Kat Von D one instead. There's too many colors for me to choose from on either of the Naked palettes and I wouldn't know which palette to invest in because they have different colors.

The two negatives about this palette is that the black eyeliner pencil that it comes with sucks. It smears very easily when I just want it to stay put. So instead, I replaced it with a mini Laura Mercier contour/crease brush. And also, the top lid flips out 180 degrees and isn't adjustable, so it's only good for putting on shadows but not for other things that might require both hands, like tight lining (for eyeliner).

-------------------------
so I didn't expect this post to be so long, BUT just one last thing - yesterday I went to the mall for a little bit and saw two pretty winter skirts, one of which was from J. Crew! Hopefully they're go on sale sometime! :) I've been looking for some winter skirts so I don't need to wear jeans or knitted dresses all winter.

  1. YAY! I love the packaging! So cool! I wanted to get one of the Naked palettes too but I rarely use neutral colors. It's awesome that you found a palette that you like. I have yet to find one for me...I'm going w all the single eyeshadows that I find interesting...
